MOLINE, Ill. (Oct. 15, 2015)John Deere is pleased to announce its support for current and future preowned machines, and fleets in countries where ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) is not available. John Deere dealers can now offer a solution to customers migrating highly regulated Tier 4 equipment, requiring ULSD to a lower-regulated or nonregulated market with the introduction of a Sulfur Compatibility Solution for select Interim Tier 4/Stage IIIB applications (greater than 56 kW) and FT4/Stage IV applications (less than 56 kW).

“Since global fuel sulfur levels vary significantly by country and region throughout the world, it’s important that engines and machines delivered into a given market have access to the appropriate fuel and technology,” said Craig Timmerman, engine and driveline product marketing manager, John Deere Construction & Forestry.

Non-ULSD fuel contains sulfur levels higher than 15 parts per million (ppm). The John Deere solutions work by removing or disabling the systems that are susceptible to damage when using non-ULSD. The key systems affected are the exhaust after treatment system and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system.

“John Deere recognizes used machines will move from a highly regulated market to a lesser-regulated market,” said Timmerman. “Installation of these solutions will ensure the highest level of uptime for customers, regardless of the sulfur content of the fuel.”For additional information, visit http://www.JohnDeere.com or contact your local John Deere dealer in the non-ULSD fuel market.
