Demolition crews rolled in on May 12 to begin dismantling the Riviera Hotel and Casino. The demolition will allow for more exhibit space at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017.
According to the Las Vegas Journal Review, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority purchased the Riviera property in 2015 for $182.5 million. The iconic 60-year old casino-hotel had a history of bankruptcy. Its demolition will make way for new outdoor exhibit space and eventually a new convention facility that will reinvigorate the area.
CONEXPO-CON/AGG will be the first trade show to use the new space. The show will feature a new, streamlined show layout to help attendees more easily comparison shop for the products and services they need for their businesses. The Gold Lot includes an expanded Gold Hall and now extends to Las Vegas Boulevard, using the site of the demolished Riviera Hotel.
