AEM and our members strongly favor trade agreements, because they represent some of the biggest obstacles toward exporting ag and construction machinery. Obviously, we think the campaign season has distorted the relationship between trade and the strength of manufacturers here in the U.S.
That’s why we created this video – to tell our side of the story. I think what you’ll find interesting, though, is that we’re making a substantial commitment toward advertising these videos on major news sites and social media (Facebook and Twitter), with added targeting in Cleveland and Philadelphia over the next couple of weeks. The idea is to reach campaigns, delegates, advocacy groups and reporters while they’re actually at the convention. We’re also paying to push this video (and a whole series we’ve developed) directly to manufacturing industry employees in Midwestern swing states (WI, MN, IA, IL and IN in addition to the other two, OH and PA) to address misconceptions about trade that candidates have spread over the course of the campaign.
