One equipment manufacturer has recently voiced its commitment to the constant evolution of the technology of its machines. Volvo hosted a press event to announce new products that are not going to be rolled out for ConExpo, or in the coming weeks, months, and even years. What it announced last week in Eskilstuna, Sweden, to customers and the international press were the kinds of technologies that won’t see an assembly line for at least five to seven years. I’m talking about cab-less autonomous electric powered vehicles, hybrid front loaders, etc.
Take a few minutes to listen to the president of Volvo CE, Martin Weissburg, talk about why Volvo is looking for customer feedback so early in the development of the iron, and their efforts on how to make the technology affordable as well as adaptable.
