Zurich Realigns Surety Team to Maximize Customer-Centric Focus

July 14, 2014

SCHAUMBURG, IL ““ July 10, 2014 Zurich North America has created two dedicated contract Surety teams focused on specific customer segments, and today named Tom McClellan as the head of Middle Market Contract Surety and Dave McVicker as head of Large Account Contract Surety. Both will report to Mike Bond, head of Surety for Zurich North America.

“We recognized that our mid-sized and larger national customers each have different needs and require focused underwriting resources to better service those unique needs,” Bond said. “Having teams dedicated to each segment will allow Zurich to serve those customers in ways more tailored to their specific requirements and expectations.”

“The creation of customer-centric underwriting teams brings an exciting new structure and customer focus to our Surety team that ““ along with the support from more than 170 underwriters throughout the U.S. and Canada ““ will continue to provide industry-leading specialty products and services to our customers,” said Bryan Salvatore, president, Specialty Products, Zurich North America. “I am confident that the experience, leadership and demonstrated commitment that Tom and Dave bring to Zurich’s customers will allow us to expand our presence in the Contract Surety marketplace.”

With more than 30 years with Zurich, McVicker transitions from his position as vice president of Surety, responsible for all of Contract Surety in the Central Region. With experience from Surety field underwriting to regional management, he has worked on some of Zurich’s largest, most complex Surety accounts.

McClellan moves to his new role from vice president of Surety, responsible for all of Contract Surety in the East Region. With more than 10 years at Zurich and 20 years in the Surety industry, he has a proven track record and strong relationships with the contractors and agents around the country that make up Zurich’s core Contract Surety business.

“These moves demonstrate Zurich’s robust organizational structure, bench strength and field authority that allow us to remain squarely focused on the needs of our customers,” Salvatore added.

The Zurich Surety management team remains in place. Aaron Ort continues in his role as head of Commercial Surety, Gonzalo Videla is still head of International Surety, and Brian Hodges remains as the head of Surety product underwriting.
