NASA is going to be taking applications for its next generation of astronauts. From December 14 until about mid-February, you can submit your name to be in the next class to “go where no one has gone before.”

NASA says, “The next class of astronauts may fly on any of four different US vessels during their careers: the International Space Station, two commercial crew spacecraft currently in development by US companies, and NASA’s Orion deep-space exploration vehicle.”

But if you prefer to make giant leaps for mankind in an oxygen rich environment without having to ignite thousands of gallons of rocket fuel beneath you and instead keep yourself grounded in a great paying job, I would urge you to be part of the next generation to rebuild the nation’s infrastructure. You don’t have to do a lot of research to find that there is a serious skills gap in the construction industry that continues to widen with each passing construction season.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. took part in a report on the skills gap in Houston, TX, that was published a couple of weeks ago. Take a look at the report that nicely illustrates the need.
