Since we’re about to have a new President of the United States, I guess we’ll all go back to what we’ve been doing sans the political social media battles and dinner table arguments with your conservative/liberal uncle. As we return to normalcy and focus on the dirt moving industry, should there be a revised vision of what we’ve set out to accomplish?
There really shouldn’t be.
At a press event, I met with John Carpenter, Caterpillar’s Construction Design and Technology manager. We stuck a camera in his face and asked him about what he envisions for construction technology, post-election.
I asked him, what role should technology play? Is resisting technology an exercise in futility? Why would an equipment manufacturer partner with a technology/software company? And, could he characterize the continuing advancement of construction technology?
